I allow Windows to manage my Virtual Memory Settings.I am trying to summon up the nerve to set a static setting of 768 (3 x RAM) Is that a good idea ? Windows warns if I dare my system might not restart and programmes malfunction.Any views welcome

Have a look at point 16 of the homepage link on this response. It's no big deal to change it but usually not necessary unless you're using big (and I mean big) video or graphics files.
