I currently have a problem installing the driver on ME for my laptop's screen. The model of the video card is Trident CyberBlade XP AI1 6.4
The install executable doesn't work and installing from the .inf also does not work. I have also tried manually installing it which makes the laptop recognize the adapter but the screen mode stays unchangeable with VGA and 16 colours, I can change the refresh rate though.
I'm pretty sure this is possible because I've had ME before on this same laptop a very long time ago with a working screen.
You can get and look at the driver package from http://www.savefile.com/files/1157062
Can anyone help me on how I could make this work?
Also, I'm planning on installing Linux on this laptop later on. Will I run into this same problem?

..and the easiest thing to do regarding most desktop Linux distros' is download the live version of your choice and run it to see if everything works.

..and when your looking up drivers from that Toshiba link, be sure to pick 'archive' to see the Satellite 1800.

Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't have support for my very obscure model (1800-S208). And the drivers for the closest matching models are incompatible for some reason.

More than one way to skin a cat...
Toshiba Canada >> Notebook >> Satellite >> 1800 >> PS181C-00WZX >> ALi AGP Driver - Win 98SE, ME, 2000 - 1.8. Or, scroll to the bottom >> Trident Video Accelerator CyberBlade-Ai1 AGP Win ME 6.60.6260-57.22
or ...you can email Toshiba Canada and ask which model (including PS181C-00CET) equated to the 1800-S208 and work from there.
Incidentally the 1800 and 1805 series are the same in the technical lit on the US site but when you open up the 1805-S208 .pdf it specifies 1800-S207 (which would be your nearest - but not near enough as there are no relevant drivers). W-T-F they did with the 1800-S208 only they will know that story.
I'd email Toshiba Canada, see what you can find out, the PS181C-00WZX drivers would be good IMO, but it's always wise to double check.

Just finished a clean install of Windows XP on a Satellite 1800 and the Video Controller showed that no driver was installed. The driver from the Toshiba Website did not correct the matter, so I chose to install it manually. From Toshiba's driver package I discovered that the hardware must be a Trident CyberBlade XP Ai1 v 6.4022-016B.22ICDNP
When I chose the CyberBlade there were many choices of drivers. I went past many, including the 'Ai1' and at the very end there was one labelled 'Toshiba'. That did the trick. After restarting, everything in device manager settled right down.

PLEASE ALL HELP ME Ihave another problem .i have Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)windows mellnium .but after formate WHEN I download my (trident blade 3D MVP4)THERE IS MEESEGE ..best driver is already installed and my computer refuse to up date my card help me please as soon as possible
