i reformatted my computer and reinstalled windows me. Got my audio working but can't get my computer out of 640 by 480 nor can i get it off the 16-bit color. i tried updating my video card driver. I'm using a Standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA) but when i attempted to update the driver it said i already had the most optimal driver for the adapter installed. What do i do? Do I have to go buy another video card or what?

'Standard PCI' is generic - you can't update it. You need to correctly identify the display adapter and install its drivers. Compaq may have the driver on their site if it's integrated video and you know the machine's model number - otherwise, try Everest
