Video Card (2 Monitors)

January 28, 2010 at 06:33:07
Specs: Windows XP
I have an old Dell Dimension 4100 with a single port video card and I want to replace it with a card that will drive 2 monitors. I went to my local "big box" store for the card/installation and they told me to buy a new computer because ME is no longer supported.

I understand this, but the computer runs fine and all I need is a second video port. I am running a flight simulator program (I inherited the computer) that requires 2 monitors to conduct FAA approved training. The computer came with this software loaded (I no longer have the product codes) and runs fine...I just need to attach another monitor.

Any recommendations on what component, where I can find it, and where to get a driver?

Thanks.

steve

Your board has a 4X AGP slot. How much are you willing to spend on a card? And which type of video-out ports do you need....DVI, VGA, HDMI, S-video?

The real question is whether you are going to find a new graphics card with dual output ports that is supplied with a Windows ME driver - these days I think not. You'd be hard pressed to find a new, standard single-port card with a Windows ME driver, let alone a dual one.
