Video Capture Problems

This is long and detailed but I hope the information given will help in diagnosing my problem.

I've tried to use my video capture card with three different programs, including Windows Movie Maker and the system does the same thing every time. Whenever I try to actually capture video (using RCA analog in from my camcorder), I get a user request message asking me if I see black and white rectangular boxes in the corners of the screen, which I do. I answer yes, then I get another user request box that asks if the boxes are true rectangles and not parallelagrams. When I answer yes again, the computer freezes, mouse and all. More than half the time I can't CTRL-ALT-DEL out and have to do a hard restart.

My video capture card shows up as H.32x.PCI in my Device Manager. The driver is listed as coming from VideoCad, ltd. I got a disk with the card that came with Asymetrix DVP software and device drivers. I have installed the drivers several times from the disk but the Device Manager keeps telling me the hardware doesn't need the driver or it hasn't been installed. Understand this video capture card and software came from a weekend computer swap and I got it dirt cheap (I realize that might be the problem, but I'd like to try and get it working).

When I go to System Summary at the Help and Support section, I find two codecs in the software/multimedia/video codec file, both working according to the computer. Now the video card and the modem are both on ICQ 5, but I don't know if this is a problem because my on-board audio and video card are both on ICQ 11 and there isn't a problem there. When I look under problem devices, I get "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering," with "ACPI\*PNP0C0F\00000005" listed as the PNP Device ID and 22 as the error code. I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, but "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering" is listed three times each next to ICQ 5 and ICQ 11according to the System Summary. One other thing; I looked at the fault log and the two software programs I tried to use with the card (Asymetrix DVP and Pegasus Capture Studio) gave me this message "DVPCAP caused a general protection fault in module H20DRV.DLL at xxxx:xxxxxxxx." I have not gotten a fault log reading from the Movie Maker program. I have upgraded to DirectX 8.1 not knowing if that was a problem or not.

I'm running Windows ME on a ECS K7S5A Motherboard with a 1 Gig AMD processor, 512 DDR RAM and MSI NVidia GeForce 2 Pro Video Card. Any info or advice is welcome. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a card like yours, and it causes to me a lot of complications to set up.
After months of experimentation, I only can say 2 things:
Try deleting the H20.INI file in the windows directory (this file is "a key").
Go to some capture program, and when it do the test of "rectangles or paralelograms" after click yes, you must to wait a few (or lot) of seconds when the card initializes (its seems the computer tilts, but you must wait).
Good Luck...

Ale

Pd: If you can, please send me the Asymetrix DVP software and device drivers, because I donīt have a really good codec to use with it.
