USB problem in Win ME!

Hi:
I have a Compaq Notebook(Presario Model 1700 series) with WIN ME installed. When I tried to install an USB device, there was an error saying about "cdminst".
Can anyone help me out?

Ypu don't mention what you are trying to install. I have searched the Microsoft KB and if you wish to check this link
