urlmon.dll problem

I've been installing Earthlink on a friends computer and kept getting the message "Iexplore has caused a fault in urlmon.dll". I upgraded her IE to vers 6.0 and then made it through the Earthlink install. Although she can connect to Earthlink, as soon as she goes to launch IE, the same message pops up and the program quits. The message immediately after that is, "Error Starting Program DW15.exe file is linked to missing export WININET.DLL:HttpSendRequestExa" I've search the forum but couldn't find any that look like what I've got here. Any suggestions? Thanks very much.
