hello i have a problem with my computer,it has refused to start .i used system commander because i use both Windows and Linux. when i want to start the computer it gives me
an error "cannot run System commander.missing syscmndr.sys partition 0 id =A0 (other) partition 1* id =83 (other) partition 2 id=85 (other) partition 3 id =00 (empty)
When i type 0 for the first one it tells me "type the name of your command interpreter (e.g C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM After that nothing i use windows 98 se as my main OS and i have almost 5gb of work on it and 1 gb of work on linux, please i cant afford to loose all my work. the linux partition is not all that important. if there is anyway i can bypass system commander and get to Windows i'll be very happy. please help me I can't even start my computer with a Windows 98 start up disk because it will not start. I also have a system commander rescue/utility disk but it has not been of much help

Maybe you shouldn't fool around with your computer BIOS or it's parts unless you know how to fix it again. If you don't know what you are doing then don't do it.
I know exactly what you feel like! Have you tried re-installing (NOT CLEAN REINSTALLATION) over the previousl version? It usually works for me, all it does is overwrite the previous OS and settings. If it does, you can back up your work and then do a clean reinstallation as the OS will not be very stable.
doesnt anyone use fdisk? create a primary and extended partition windows 9x on the primary linux on the extended the lilo boot floppy lets you boot linux.
