Hello. Since Saturday I have been experiencing perhaps the most irritating and exhausting malware I've come in contact with. All known side effects:

The C:\ and Control Panel folders are completely hidden.
System Restore does not work...
The My Pictures folder is in an odd format (the actual pictures are on the left hand side of the screen with a scrollbar. On the rest of the screen is the typical "filmstrip" style background.)
Java and Flash do not work, and act as if they are not installed on this computer.
The "CTRL+F" feature does not work.

I've tried programs such as AVG Anti-Virus (as you may know, their anti-spyware does not seem to work on older computers), SpyBot Search and Destroy, and most recently Trojan Remover. I've gotten absolutely no results so far.

I would like to format the computer, but before I try to do that, I want to know if there's still a way to get rid of this malware.

Attached is a picture of the infected My Pictures folder, have a look.

Probably not. It sounds too far gone.

If you can't do an online virus and online malware scan, then your choices are limited.

You could run SUPERAntiSpyware instead of Spybot S&D but that's only going to clean general malware as opposed to dedicated virus and trojan.

The other option is a manual removal attempt which is kinda pointless beyond a certain point of infection.
