wassup guys, thanks for comming to my message.

i am trying to install a 512 sd ram on my pc.

the sd ram is right for my mobo, my mobo is 733mhz celeron.
i am running win me on a hp.

thing is, when i put my 512 sd ram in, my pc beeps about 3 times when i switch it on, then nothing happens, it just stays on silent.

the ram is seated in the memory slot correctly, i am using the right ram at the right speed which is 133 but i dont know whats gone wrong or why my pc wont recognise the memory is in, even when i try to add the hardware through control panel add hardware.

what have i done wrong, also, my board accepts 512mb of sdram max and i have tried using the chip on its own without another chip in the other slot, can anyone help me please, thanks

Did you try to put the memory in the other slot alone? Some PCs need memory in a certain slot.
Are you saying your PC takes 512mb max, and you have 2 slots for memory and the new memory is one chip of 512mb?

If your system takes 512MB maximum then most likely it only works with 256MB SDRAM modules.

If max is 512mb & you have 2 slots, the max per slot is 256mb (512/2). You also have to be careful about high density RAM in an older board like that.
