I just recently found out that my Pentium III 750MHZ 256MB RAM O/S Windows Me, has a 145W power supply ! When I purchased this computer in October of 2000 , I had zero knowledge of computers and because of that I eneded up with a system with intergrated graphics (i810) , a motherboard with no AGP slot . So I installed an ATI RADEON 32MB PCI graphics card. I also installed a CD-RW , the system came with a DVD-ROM . I also installed a slot fan and a sound card (came with intergrated sound also). Well a friend , that just purchased a Pentium 4 that came with a 300W power supply , had it upgraded to a 450W . He gave me the new 300W power supply , its ATX compliant , which is what I need for the M6TWG Biostar motherboard. My ? is besides removing the old power supply , and making sure that I plug all the connectors in the right place . Is there anything else I need to be aware of . Is there any BIOS settings that I must change , etc. I gave my mini tower a quick look over and it looks like getting the old power supply out is not going to be easy ? Just removing the 4 screws wil not do the trick. So far my system seems to be working fine with the 145W supply. I have to admit I have only once used the copy CD feature , to copy 1 song onto a CD-R. Sometimes when I have a CD in the DVD-ROM and I click the eject button . I will recieve a error notice . I believe this is related to the power supply being over taxed ? Does not happen every time. Any help or suggestions .Should I just leave the 145W in, untill it burns out.If it aint broke dont fix it, apply here ? Sorry for the long winded post. Thanks to All,Nick
