Upgrade ME to XP

I am just about to upgrade from ME to XP by doing a clean install. I will follow the instructions for "Windows XP Home Fresh CD Install on a Used Hard Drive" which appear in the Install Guides on this forum. One thing bothers me and I would be grateful for advice please. During installation a screen appears with 3 options: a)to set up Xp on the selected item press enter b)to create a partition in the unpartitioned space press C c)to delete the selected partition press D Which option should I choose please? My hard drive has 3 partitions, C D & E. ME is on C and I want to install XP on C after it has been formatted. Thanks

If you don't need any information from the drive, then you can partition the drive however you want, so you'd delete the first partition, sizing and formatting as you wish. After you install XP, you can then create partitions in the unused space by using Disk Management.

Thanks Jennifer. I don't actually want to resize my C drve. I just want to install Xp on exactly the same sized drive (C) as ME is at the moment but I want to wipe the drive clean before I actually install XP. I obviously would not choose b) above but should I not choose a) and then format my Drive C or if I choose that option will XP be installed without wiping the Drive C first. Sorry to raise the matter again but I want to be safe rather than sorry!

Delete the Selected Partition, which should be your C drive, and then create a partition in that unpartitioned space. :) You can then format as NTFS after creating the new partition.
