Reply: (edit)Upgrading is disappointing. Do a full install with the upgrade disk. Insert the XP disk while you are already in Windows Me, and select the full install instead of upgrade. XP should see that you already have a qualifying upgrade product(Win Me) and will proceed with the install without you needing a Me disk.
If you're worried about that, do an upgrade first and then go back for a full install later. Once XP is on there, reinstalling it fully is easy.

Reply: (edit)no names method may work. Ive seen it recommended several times and have experienced something similar with windows 2000. The only thing i would like to add is that when and if you ever decide to format you may not be able to pull it off again. your recovery disk may not reinstall after format and it will nopt work as qualifying software. This would make your xp upgrade disk unuseable. Purchasing the full version or an older version along with the upgrade now would be your best bet.
