Can anyone tell me if I'm likely to run into any major compatibility/driver etc problems upgrading 98 to Me? And is it worth it overall? Is Me much stabler than 98?

Stability is the same !(you will hear many
different opinions about that !)
Do you have many problems with 98?
If not stay where you are.
(THOUGHTS ABOUT XP ?)

if you have plain windows 98 you might want to upgrade.
otherwise spend your money on hardware.
it's not worth the price when you consider what kind of hardware toys you can get for the same price.

Alot of people dis win ME.I use win 98 se most but i have found that with some work and tweaking you can have win ME very stable also. There is little reason to upgrade to ME.But thats just me.As far as XP.Bill Gates should give every one he tricked into installing that curs from hell on thier pc 500$ to cover cost of os and time and trouble

If going from Windows 98 it is worth it. If you have Windows 98se, its a toss up.
If you do change, first ID all of your hardware including the system board chips and locate all the drivers. There are often ME specific drivers for display adapters and such. Find all of them first befor you spend the $ on getting ME.

My suggestion: Clean install Windows ME. If you do upgrade, make sure you save the uninstall files.

Agree.... If your moving from 98 1st edition you should upgrade. If you have 98SE [second edition] I would hold off till its time for a new PC then get XP or whatever MS is hyping when the time comes.
If cost isnt an issue because you already have it or "borrowed" it.. You may find compatibility issues with hardware or software. Check the MS compatibility site for the hardware and research the software vendors site for known issues, patches, "it aint gonna work" signs.
I am a fan of windows me but at this point [2 years later--xp exists] i would do as thegorx says and save the money - put it towards hardware.
