The original problem started with a MS intelimouse 2 button with wheel. This mouse worked fine until I loaded a new Sidewinder driver (I think).
I have now bought an Optical Ms Explorer mouse and loaded the new 3.1 driver. (I did uninstall the previous software and removed the mouse from devices). This has got the same problem.
If I try to change the settings of the mouse in control panel and go to the 'buttons' tab - there is no devices available for me to select.Orientations, click lock & pointer speed are also unavailable.
If I do try and change something I am told I the changes can only be saved for this Windows session and that I need to reinstall Intellipoint software. (done it - no different)
I hope this helps.
My operating system is Windows ME but I had this problem on Windows 98 originally. Even when I upgraded to ME the files didn't change regarding the mouse.
Have just upgraded to driver version 3.2 - still same problem

Try to reinstall the original driver. Then put a shortcut to the program point32.exe in your startup group.

This wad posted further down. I take it you did not look! What you need is the version 3.2 mouse driver for Windows Me & 2000

Sorry did not read your message in full!
It seems to me that you may have a fault in the mouse itself. Have you tried it was other mice? Also have you plugged it in via PS/1 or USB Socket? It may be your USB port.

Go to download site for intellimouse and get new driver. That worked for me(trash CD that came with product)Do this for Natural Keyboard Pro too!!:-) Funny that MS brand new
products don't work with their brand new OS??
