I'm unable to uninstall the Logitech Desktop Messenger software through normal means. Whenever I try to uninstall it through Add/Remove Programs I get this message:

An installation support file could no be installed.
The system cannot find the file specified.

I get this message if I try to delete it with the application bwUnin in the Desktop Messenger folder:

Uninstalled Failed. Unable to load resources

I've been able to uninstall the camera and the other software that came with it except for this. I tried emailing www.backweb.com for assistance and they told me to speak to the vendor that this application came from. I emailed Logitech and they never responded.

I've tried to reinstall Messenger on top of the old version but I keep getting the same response. Any help of ridding me of this program would be greatly appreciated.

Saint of Killers, SWAG, perhaps I've got them mixed up (me, err?). Seems I recall Backweb as malware. Suggest you run Ad-Aware or Spybot (or both) to see if they'll remove it. Perhaps that is 'grandfathering' the messenger.
If that fails, Google has quite a lot to say about it. See if your answer is @:

From what I've read BackWeb isn't malware, here's the description -

BackWeb Description:

BackWeb is a generic, background downloading tool that software vendors can incorporate into their product to download data (e.g. product updates) to the user's PC. Its operation depends on the instructions given to it by the individual software vendor who bundles it.

BackWeb has been associated with numerous large companies working on a corporate level to deliver timely information and updates. Essentially, BackWeb is a communications program whereby a large amount of users may be contacted in an instant.

I also tried Google and couldn't find anything about my particular problem :-(

I was told to clean up my hard drive it was safe to delete .log files I now find out that many apps depend on the log files when you want to uninstall the app .In fact many times when i've tried to uninstall something thru my Control panepl; add/remove programs ,I will recieve a error notice stating cannot locate install log .I went and downloaded a freeware app called ADD/REMOVE Pro , and it has worked with some and not with others .The real thorn in my side is I cant update my display driver because of this delelted install.log. I even tried reinstalling the original driver off the installation CD to no advail . With ATI ,you must uninstall the previous driver B/4 installing a new updated driver ! Sucks big time !
