ok heres the situation
my numbnuts brother was using my computer to transfer files. He slaved his hard drive onto my new computer to take my files. he could have used a cd but he was too lazy.So the MBR (master boot record) was changed
My computer's OS was WIN ME while his was Win 98. Now i couldnt System retore with my OEM disc. It wouldnt read it saying there was a problem with the fixed disk. So while i was at work he used his OEM cd from his computer to restore the files so he could uninstall WIN98 and reinstall the OEM from my computer.Still with me? ok good
The b---tard took out my hard drive from my computer and put it in his and used his OEM system restore and it worked. He used the restore system files. No Reformat of the hard drive. So now i have a 40 gig hard drive with Win 98 on it.Im wondering if theres a way i can save my files that are still in there. And how can I uninstall Win 98 OEM and reinstall WIN ME OEM.
Heres the other problem The OEM restored system files from the WIN 98 OEM restore disk. But my WIN ME files do not show up on the Win 98. The 40 gig hard drive became a 4 gig hard drive. Are my files still recoverable?.
It was only a Windows system files restore and not a complete hard drive restore. Are my files still recoverable?
