Can anyone help me...i uninstalled windows me, and now my computer will NOT run, after uninstall, I got a BUNCH of error messages, mostly about VxD's, then nothing but a blank screen !
do i need to reformat and reinstall win98?
if so, HOW

Wow, I'm totally shocked that ME would do that. Are you sure that you did it the rite way?? Uninstall works perfectly!..........

I'm messin around at your expense and am really ashamed of myself.
Bet you aren't going to put that in there again!!

When you installed ME did you install it to a directory other than Windows or did you install it in Windows? If you did install to WIndows, you have no way to revert back to 98. SOunds like that's what may have happened. If so, you will need to reformat but I discourage you from trying to do that with help from a forum. There are too many variables like using FDISK to be sure of your partititioning structure, etc. You'll be better off finding a friend compfortable with this to help you. Once installed, you will need drivers for your devices, etc. If you can't get help, then come back here and I'm sure we can help you one step at a time.

one thing first,
I know this might sound a little picky
but Windows won't run not your computer
your computer is fineIf you had a registry backup from before
ME that might help.Have you tried safe-mode?
Have you made a bootlog.txt?
to see what is going on or where everthing stops. You could run in bootlog.txt mode
then after the freeze
boot to safe-mode if you can then read itthis sounds like a registry problem
its looking for files that got taken away
would be my guessMy page:
Reformating and reinstalling sometimes sounds real good
I have it down so I never have to
Because I can now do it right the first time
Learning is goodSome links
http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/tutorials/42/1/
partitions are good they keep defragmenting from being a chore
http://www.hardwarecentral.com/hardwarecentral/tutorials/30/1/and as far as setting up Windows in most cases you just put the disk in and away you go.
Then you'll have to check all your drivers
to make sure Windows got them rightThen after you get everything just right
Backup your registry
and keep it where it won't get overwritten.either way you go your gonna have to spend sometime on Windows trouble shooting
Good luck
