I was recently cleaning out my hard drive and uninstalled limewire. After a while of not finding a good substitute for it, I downloaded the most recent version from the limewire website (version 4.4.0 is what it shows up as for a file icon, although the site says the current version is 4.2.6). The download went without a problem, as did the install, but when I tried to open the actual program, I got an error message that said "LimeWireLauncher Error. LimeWire was unable to load. Please download and install LimeWire again." I uninstalled limewire, and tried to download and install again, with the exact same results. I thought there might be a problem with the java software I had (JS2E runtime envirnment 5.0), so I uninstalled that as well, and then downloaded it again from Sun. After that, I uninstalled limewire again, downloaded it again, and got the same error message. I get the feeling that I'm missing something that will make me feel like an idiot when I find out, but I'm at a loss right now. Any help (or suggestions for other programs to use for downloading music, videos, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. ~j |
