Comment: I am unable to connect to the internet. I dials and says it is checking the user name and password. If I cancel, it keeps the connection. Everything was checked in control panel and it is fine

Reply: (edit)try deleting the connection in the dail up networking. and then go back and use the internet connection wizzard. Its the quickest way to get your connection set up.

Reply: (edit)I was able to get around this problem by removing tcp protocal, rebooting, then adding tcp protocal back in.

Reply: (edit)I've actually worked for AOL Tech Support and currently work for Gateway and Compuserve, and I know that all these users have problems connecting to the internet on WindowsME. There is a glitch within the operating system that conflicts with the internet software. What you might want to try if you have one of these ISP's is to download the patch that Microsoft has available on their website. That usually clears up any connection issues. The web address is http://support.microsoft.com/support/windows/topics/winme/AOL/winmeaol.asp And for your particular issue, you would click on the third option. Hope this helps.
