Look for a small pin hole on the ffront of the cd drive. Use a paper clip or something similar to push into the hole and eject the drive.

A bad cd-rw could cause this.

You could also try killing power to the PC then restarting and try ejecting before windows loads.

Does it get power at all ? If so you should be able to eject it with one of those suggestions.

My next uneducated attempt would be to open up the case unplug the HD, power the system back on and start banging away at the power button.

you have to push the paper clip real hard on some drives. much harder than you would think, as it is not pushing a button, but manually pushing open the sliding tray. PUSH!
It happens to my cdrw once in a blue moon. itll be fine as soon as you get that one out. it may even work again (the disc).

This has happened to me a few times and I found I can always eject the disk by using the CD Mate eject tab. (Windows eject won't do it for me, nor will Adaptec)

CD Mate is a free download. (www.cdmate.com)

The paper clip method will work if all else fails.

Happy Days. Regards Ray.

Hi,

Clicking on any kind of software eject buttons, if you hear the drive making noise like it were trying to open the door, but nothing happens, then it can be a case of a worn out belt inside the drive, if the drive happens to use a belt to operate.

If you pushed real hard with the pin method and try and try again but it won't open, then it can be a case of a mechanical jam. Someone would have to pry open the drive door for you.

But sometimes it can be the Cd's driver corrupted, sometimes drivers do that for no reason. So another try is to uninstall the driver, reinstall it.

Have a nice day.

Harry.
