have you tryed add new hardware?
have checking in programs assesories for scanners?

I have a Umax Astra 2100U installed on my PC running WindowsMe ! I could not install it using the add new hardware wizard , because it did not offer a USB option for the connection type . I have been told that these scanners will not work with Windows Me because they use TWAIN technology , however I have had no troble using the scanner , the only software I have installed is thec VistaScan and the AdobePhotoShop Home Edition. When veiwing items in Windows Explorer , under Windows I have a folder TWAIN_32 , I believe this is the folder that pertains to the scanner , there are 2 entries , one for the scanner and another for my Logitech Quick Cam ! I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and software , other then that I have no idea what else you can do except try UMAX support, or do a search for a patch or new driver available !
