um, wheres my cd drives

i just noticed that my cd drive and dvd drive are both missing. nothing is coming up in the device manager. i checked the ide cable it is firmly secure in the slot. please help.

Check in BIOS to see if they have been detected....make sure that both IDE channels are set to auto-detect.

yeah, they both show up in the BIOS, but not under windows. i clicked on disc-detect and neither of my drives are displayed there. and i ran an anti-virus and that shows up nothing.
