Hi. After accumulating various popups & bugs & whatnot on my computer, I decided that I wanted to wipe the hd CLEAN & restore to factory settings. I've already backed up everything I want to keep. I used the "Operating System-For the Reinstallation of Windows ME" cd that came w/ my computer. With it I created a new startup disk. After the reinstallation, my computer is exactly the same as it was. Some bugs are fixed, some aren't. But basically everything is where it was before. This is not the clean sweep I was shooting for. I want to erase EVERYTHING that is not part of my computer's original factory settings & start from scratch. Please instruct me as to what I should really be doing. Thanks!

Check the documentation for your system again. Somewhere it should have given you an option to FORMAT the disk before re-installing the system.

Caution: Your restore cd may not have the ability to do a full install of Me. Check before you format that drive. Free programs such as adaware6, spybot, delindex, hijack this and others can clean your system and rid you of accumulated crap.
