I'm having trouble installing the newest driver for my NVIDIA RIVA TNT2/TNT2 Pro (Dec, 8 2003). I downloaded the setup exe file, but when I double click to install, I basicly get no response and there is no setup process at all.
I double click the setup file, and it asks if I have an antivirus running and if so to click "No" and cancel the setup and disable the antivirus first. I just so happened to NOT have antivirus software on my pc, so I clicked "Yes" to move on with the setup. When I confirmed to install, the window just closed and nothing happened. I tried several times and nothing happens. Every driver I have attempted to install does this. Please tell me how I can successfully install a better driver. My online gaming performance is horrible. Thanks in advance.

Does ME warn you that the driver is not digitally signed by Microsoft? I had to turn on the ME option to install even if not signed - click advanced button on warning screen that appears and select install anyway option. Once I'd done this it just warned me driver was unsigned and asked me to OK it but still installed whole Nvidia driver package.

no it says nothing about digitally signing by microsoft. This is the window that I get..

Antivirus software should be disabled before continuing. If you have antivirus software running, please select No, disable the software, then restart this setup. Otherwise, click Yes to continue.
YES, NOAlso, someone told me to try and install it in safe mode, to rule out antivirus or background application problems, and I still cannot install.

The driver I installed was from August 2003 version 45.23 to link in with an upgrade to DirectX 9. This is still available from http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_archive.html
You must turn off any download accelerators when downloading the file. It is possible your download is simply corrupted. When I first ran 45.23 it rushed through the installation & appeared to install but with the message that Windows would not install driver because of no digital signature. I switched video driver to VGA PCI card with 16 colours & uninstalled everything showing for the previous Nvidia driver through add/remove components in control panel. Once I ran the setup the second time it installed correctly. Hope this helps.

You have no antivirus.
WHAT?!
ugh. You should get some kind of antivirus program and check your PC out for any viruses first. [ http://www.antivir.de or http://www.antivir.com ]
Then get spybot search and destroy and look for any spyware or adware or other such things.
If it still doesn't work after that I'll eat my shorts.

sorry man, eat your shorts. This pc has been abused alot, I do use the panda online antivirus every once in a while. I have never gotten a virus yet. I have spybot too. Doesnt make any sense. Looks like Ill just let this pc go more than likely. Too much trouble. Im yet to successfully instal any type of drive update at all with windows. I even had trouble with the latest agree modem driver, on the windows update site. Windows shmindows! I hate computers, looking into a different career.

Hi Michael,
I had the same headaches with Nvidia setup file (dated July 7, 2003) in XP Home Edition, but I managed to install it after trying many tips. In my situation, I had to go to the BIOS in order to ENABLE the Video Card IRQ. There was nothing wrong with the setup file itself, but the installation never went through because it needed an IRQ. Hope this info will help. Good Luck!
