I'm running Windows ME (that's why this message is in this forum) with a Leadtek WinFast GeForce2 MX DH Pro 3D accelerator.
Leadtek is usually a little behind on the driver development, so I want to use the Nvidia reference drivers. I went to www.nvidia.com and downloaded the 28.32 whql drivers for windows me.
Once the download was finished I uninstalled the old WinFast via the Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel and rebooted. When Windows started back up the Found New Hardware dialog popped up. However, the dialog soon changed to this message:
----------------
Digital Signature NotificationThe driver software you have chosen to install may not have been test by Microsoft to verify that it works properly with Windows Millennium Edition.
To maintain system reliability, it is recommended that you do not install the following driver:
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400
Do you want to continue the installation?
YES/NO
---------------
I choose YES and then a window pops up telling me that Windows cannot find the file. The classic browse for it or cancel/skip file window.I am loading these drivers incorrectly? They come with their own install package so it seems like there is no opportunity for me to do anything wrong.
Thanx to anyone who can assist.

Firstly, it is probably not wise to use the NVidia drivers rather than the Leadtek because of variations which may exist in the manufacture of the card. I have the same problem with Creative on my GeForce 3 Ti but I stick to the Creative ones for safety.
The warning message is normal for new drivers because they won't be in your PC's catalogue of certified drivers and may not yet be certified anyway.
If you really want to do this, then don't use the installation program if it is not working properly. Instead, go to device manager and remove the existing drivers.
Reboot and the PC will go into VGA mode. right click on My Computer, go to properties, device manager, expand the + beside display adapters (which means graphics cards), click on the driver listed, go to properties (bottom left), find the driver tab, click update driver, select specify the location of the driver, click on display a list of drivers in a specific location, click next, click have disk, and point Windows to the new drivers for your card and let it update.

Also I have found using any nvidia driver with a SB Live card.....you need to turn down the acceleration on the sound card. On a geforce 3 and 2 I was getting freeze ups till I turned the sound card down to basic accleration. If you not getting the freeze ups leave the setting alone.

Yep seen this problem. I ended up using a little program called detonator destroyer to remove the offending video driver and went back to the latest that leadtek had to offer...no problems. I will be sticking with leadtek in future
