On booting up I had a screen that was blue and with the message,A fatal errorin IE has occured at 0028:C0011E36 in VXD VMM{01). Error was caused by Trojan-Spy.HTML.smithfraud.c
System cannot function in normal mode.
Please check your security settings
Scan your PC with any available antivirus/spyware remover program to fix the problem.I did the scan but still have the error message and the blue screen.Help

Probably that's just a bitmap that has replaced your wallpaper (C:\Wp.bmp)

Pretty nasty & persistent, that one - have a look at these instructions

(smitfraud, btw)

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

I cannot 'see' my desktop. I boot into safemode and the screen is black with the safemode icons in the corners and windows version at the top. I used the start with prompt and deleted the C:\wp.bmp, hoping this would allow me to 'see' my desktop then download the necessary removal utility. Also, I have; C:\program files\security iguard. I can't \del this. but I did \del evertthing out of it. Any suggestions? Is there anything I can do with the command promp? The only alternative so far, is a reformat.

ok...this is how i deleted my virus...so im very thankful for this site...so if u don't wanna blv...go ahead...i just wanna help u all..go to control panel to the add or remove program...find a program that does not look familiar to u...for example: my comp is full of games...im suprised to see a program named "Internet Update"...i removed it and everything was back to normal...tada! good luck on all of u!
