I have five Trojan Horses that have attached themselves to my archive files. When I try to delete them with the antivirus software it doesn't let me. It says that it can't be deleted because the files are in use. My computer/internet has basically been disabled. What can I do?

Jubal,
And the address of those "archive files" is what? Does the address start with,
c:\_restore
What are the names of these trojans? Have you tried starting your computer in Safe Mode. Then using your software, to try to fix the problem. What software are you using, and is/was it up to date?
You said your computer and internet has basically been disabled. Could you elaborate/expand on that please. What type of service do you have? dial-up, dsl, adsl, ect. What browser version do you use, and is it updated?

My past experience with a trojan in the restore is after it's located and you try and delete it and it doesn't let you, reboot and then it will remove it. I don't know why, but that has worked for me.

You must disable the system restore utility to remove the restore point holding the virus .Right click on my computer on your desktop, then click on the performance tab, click on file system in the lower left hand corner ,then click on trouble shooting ! Put a check mark in the disable system restore utility and reboot ,this will purge all of your restore points including the one holding the virus ,after bootup back track and remove the check mark and reboot ,thus re-enabling system restore ,then open tthe system restore utility and create an restore point. I just gave another poster with the same problem as you these instructions and it sucessfully removed the trojan from the hidden restore folder ! Let us know how things go ?
Good Luck Nick
