Comment: When attempting to boot-up I almost get there to the final screen then, wam, the computer shuts down. I've used a ME boot-up disk which works fine to bring up the help page etc . I've tried scandisk, scanreg /restore and booting from the cd with the ME disc but nothing seems to work it just will not boot up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Reply: (edit)My experience has been this is usually due to hardware failure (Hard drive, RAM, MOBO etc). You will have to eliminate all these things one by one until you find the suspect. Start with the obvious like RAM and add on cards i.e. video or sound. Try the hard drive in another machine and see if it will boot. Jimi_l

Reply: (edit)have you tried a system restore,do you get anything that says theres no operating system found? then chances there is no data being read off your hard drive.I had basically the same thing, and found my hard drive to be bad.
