OK i downloaded a file called G-Lock or something like that to clean my harddrive. It showed files On the c:\ drive called file000,file0001 and so on, also aim files and caches from games like unreal tournament. IS IT SAFE TO DELETE ALL IT SHOWS? I have the setting for put the files in recycle bin, So should i delete ALL? Thanks for help in advance

First of all,if you downloaded something and you're not even sure what it's called...I would certainly do a lil' more research on it.Is it the program "G-lock or something like that" that is set to delete to the recycle bin...or Windows? I've never heard of "G-lock or something like that",doesn't mean,by any stretch that it's not good/safe,but a lil' more info on where you got it would help.
As far as I know, which is far from anything/everything (LOL),you can do some Hard-Drive cleaning manually, and with some well-known/reliable programs.Several of which are offered and available thru some of the regulars here.
Forgive me if I'm sounding negative, but I wouldn't jump the gun just yet...IMHO

You can try a tool like G-Lock Temp Folders to clean for you many kinds of temp files.
Freeware,easy to use.
http://www.webattack.com/Freeware/system/fwdiskclean.shtmlHeres the info where i got this info from the writing above this included with the link is where i got the program from. So is it safe?

WebAttack is pretty reputable, and I would tend to trust the programs they offer. As "w" mentioned in response #1,let 'em sit in the Recycle Bin 'til you're sure they're not needed.
***Create your own folder, and copy them to there,if you can,and give it a couple of weeks if need be,then delete 'em for good!

Henry, if you want something like that, download DELINDEX.Bat made by one of the posters here.................................www.burzurq.com/forum/delindex.html

Henry, when you download something, be careful, read the instructions on how to install it, ok
Download and extract to C:\ Take your Windows Me Start up disk (floppy) put in drive A, reboot your machine when the menu comes up Choose #4 and hit enter then you get the a:\ at this point type this c: and hit enter at the c: Type this DELINDEX.BAT and hit enter again this shows some options if you want to read them I just put R (that means run) it will delete these items show you what your files were and what they are now (as far as amount deleted) sometimes can be a whole lot....when it is done take the floppy out and and hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete.........Thats it
Make sure you have signed off the internet
before you run this check your c drive and make sure it on there YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO RUN IT IN WINDOWS ONLY DOS, which thats the purpose of the floppy inst.

geez thats alotta things to right down =/ oh well this will only delete stuff that is safe to right?I just have to press those keys and nothing else? ok good. ill try it after playing some games =)Thanks

I mistyped the name,it's G-Lock Temp Cleaner,
I use it for six months,it finds Temp files with the usual extensions (tmp,bak,old...).
It is very reliable, not even once made a mistake,it has nothing to do with DustBuster
and Webattack gives it 5 stars (if it means something).
Anyway it is sure it deletes just junk.

I would delete them.Look for the date to be sure that they haven't created today, because
some program maybe still needs them and keep them some days in the R.bin.
The TEMP files that everyone finds in his PC are different because we use different applications.
After some time you will be accustomed to the kind of files it finds .

Yes Henry, well I do it is a safe program also from the posts above sounds like maybe the one you downloaded is pretty good too the orig posted on. It gets easier every time you do it about once a week.

If G-Lock Temp Cleaner found all that stuff in TEMP folders or they are *.TMP files go ahead and delete them.
When you typed "Delindex," did it really say "System error" or did it say "Bad command or file name"? If it said "Bad command or file name" try c:\delindex. If you still get "Bad command or file name", you do did not download it to c: (the root, NOT in a folder) as you should have. There is no "install" procedure. It's not zipped, so you don't need to extract it.
Once Delindex is where it belongs,
• Boot up with a StartUp disk, pick option 4.
• Type c:\delindex.
• Read the info on the screen.===================================
The next Delindex (4.1) will be ready in a few days, and it will not let you use the RUN section if you're in DOS.

The last version (6/21, Ver 4.0) was in color!
From the 6/21 post:
● In the ADD section, the StartUp Disk can now be set to run Delindex immediately without user input OR from a menu as before. Checks a: for presence of a floppy. Adds ansi.sys to a:\config.sys for Color in Delindex! From "Suggestions" in Additional Notes:
Get color.
• In WinME, use an ADD option.
• In Win98, add this to C:\config.sys:
devicehigh=c:\windows\command\ansi.sysIt works in B&W as well in color (or colour, if you prefer); color just looks nicer, and some items like Warnings are color coded.
=========================================

Thanks RM
Sorry, I'm guilty of not reading the additional notes !I'm afraid that I cannot bring myself to spell colour and favourites the "Microsoft" way...that is a butchery of the Queen's English !!! LOL
Krystyna

If you put ansi.sys in your config.sys file, please post back and tell us how you like the colour!

I am only running Delta2.bat, and I'm assumimg the colour option is not coded for that yet ?
Am sending you an email to ask about another issue with delta2.bat
