TCP/IP connection

I have a computer that was invected with the VBS.LoveLetter virus. I cleaned the computer with Norton but the computer will still not load web pages. I can ping any host I want, including the DNS servers. Generally, though, when I ping a host on the internet, the first ping times out every time. Using the IP address of a known host still does not bring pages up in the browser (IE 5.5) I tried replacing the winsock files, reinstalling the OS, a diff modem. Also did a "repair" of IE 5.5

My next opt is to scrap the OS and install from scratch. This I would like to avoid.

have you thought about uninstalling dial up network, and then reinstall?

this may fix a problem with connection to the net
