Task Bar Icons Disappear

I've noticed that after I do a re-boot of my computer I'll get all my task bar Icons displayed (McAfee VShield, volume, ect), but after a few hours they disappear. I would especially like to keep these up so I can adjust my volume when needed. My "Show Volume" task bar is checked in the properties section of volume controls.

This is sometimes the result of spyware and adware. See point 14 of the homepage link on this response.

Sounds similar to the symptoms of the "friends greetings" e-cards goin' around. Did you happen to come across one of these,Jetsticks?
* If so; Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs.Check for the program entries of WinSrvReg and Friend Greetings.If you find either,or both present,delete them and reboot your PC.
If that doesn't do it,go here for the removal tool;

MMMMM? I don't think I ever got any of those, but with 4 kids, who knows? I didn't have any of those in my ADD/REMOVE list. Should I run the symantec program anyway?
