I'm a real novice- be easy on me....having a few problems the last few weeks. Been getting a few error messages and major problems getting access and staying online with my new MediaCom high speed. I was wondering if my systray problem could possibly have anything to do with it.
I understand that it's necessary to have systray running at start up. I've found the systray.exe file, but it doesn't show running when I do a ctrl+alt+delete and it doesn't show in the list of start up programs in msconfig. Shouldn't it be there?
I tried the suggestion of placing the volume control in systray, and systray then shows running, but when I re-start, volume icon is not there anymore and systray doesn't show running.
I don't now anything about editing the registry- I'm too chicken to mess with it!
Any ideas?

If you don't want to mess with the registry, you can add a shortcut to Systray.exe in the Start > Programs > Startup folder.
Right-click on the Start button, and click Open. Open the Programs folder, then go to the Startup folder. If there is no Startup folder, click File, go to New, and click Folder. Then name it Startup. Once in the Startup folder, go to File, New, and click Shortcut. Click Browse, and find the Systray.exe file. Click Next, and type a name for the shortcut (such as SysTray). Then click Finish.-Burbble
