Angelo you've been told numerous times how to resolve scandisk restarting.

You run it either from DOS or safe mode, because usually you have other program(s) writng to the HDD.

Now you've either done this, or you haven't. If you haven't -- don't bother posting again.

If you have and it still doesn't work, then you'd better detail what exactly happens when you run scandisk from both DOS or safe mode.

DISABLE SYSTEM RESTORE.

Now if it's not there, then you don't have it or you need an Italian ME forum. I know the Polish version of ME has some settings and stuff missing -- Not a clue why.

Hi viking,
Of course i tried to make work ScanDisk in safe mode and from Dos.
1-Safe mode give me excatly the same mistake.....10 times reboot

2-From DOS-->it open me windows and then of course give me the same mistake...But here May be it's my fault because when i am in windows i just open the promp Ms DOS and i try ScanDisk from there, but i have not the option to reboot my system in Dos.....what i'd suppose to do?

3- I went in prompt Dos in drive-->a----------->which is my reboot disk--->and i typed: Scandisk/fix or scan/fix,so how i red in some other message....but with this last option scandisk doesn't start.
However sorry to bother, but i carefully red everything is written here in this Forum but nothing worked yet
Thanx for your answer.....bye......Angelo!!!!

Get yourself a Windows ME startup disk (bootdisk), if you haven't already got one, and boot with it choosing "minimal". At the A:\> prompt, type:

c:\

and enter. Now type:

scandisk

and press enter. That will allow you to run scandisk. Follow scandisk through it's on screen instructions and report back on this very thread what happens to you.

There are other "switches" (/blah) that can be run after the scandisk command. But try just:

scandisk

first.

And the other commands are different from scandisk and are written:

scanreg /fix

scanreg /restore

They both have a space after scanreg. And they either fix the registry or restore the registry back to a good date.
