Help - My system restore has corrupted, when I go to restor my coputer... the only date I am given is 30 December 1899 for which there are no restore points. when I click on Help I just get a blank page! I am running Windows ME and have Norton AntiVirus, Zone Alarm, McAfee QuickClean and Internet Cleanup

BOB, Scary isn't it? I had the same problem, and couldn't remember punching that 1899 entry??? I found I had lost my "help" window and was realy flakey, it also gave ne a message to 'delete last restore point' that I clicked and that brought it back?? Apart from that I can't help, also lost a little bit of a programe that I had to later reinstall........Good Luck .

I too have reached this point, most likely what I will do is just format and reinstall 2000 or xp.

Go START>RUN>type in "scanregw /restore", without the quotation marks, and pick a date when System Restore was functioning correctly.

This issue is generally caused by a registry cleaner. RMM's advice may help, but it depends on when you ran the registry cleaner. If it was a month ago and you just discovered it, it may not help. If your registry cleaner has a way to put back the entries it took out, do so. This is the safest way to fix the issue.
