i have not got any problems at this time but as i have had a very temperamental p.c. i would like to know it is there when i need it .

So you can't create a restore point now? Go to Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore and create one if you can. If you can't do that, right click on My Computer and choose Properties. Then choose the System Restore tab and choose the drive you want to make a restore point on. Check the box where it says to turn off all Restore points. I'm assuming this is ok, since you are just testing it to see if it works. Now it should clear all your previous restore points. You can try and see if you can create it now.

Hope that helps.

Kevin.

hi , yes i can create a restore point.
what happens is either the restoration fails ,or i box come up saying i must restart my computer before i can use system restore, and when i restart - close all my programs and try again it says you must restart your computer before you can use system restore.(and on and on ).
at first system restore was failing but now its the warning box coming up.
hope this clarifies things
many thanks kevin

Try clearing the restore points first, by going to the properties of my computer and turn off all the restore points. Then try creating them again.

One last option is to uninstall the Service Pack and try it. You do have the exe file for the Service Pack right? I don't want you to waste time redownloading the service pack again if something goes wrong. If uninstalling it doesn't work, reinstall it again and see if it fixes the problem.

No problem charlton.

Hope that helps.

Kevin.

You will need to download a patch for the System Restore feature to work...Nice little Billy Boy had a little glitch with it...It won't work after September 8, 2001. Go out to Microsoft's website...critical updates...you should find it...hope this helps.
