system restore date 1899

system restore lists current date as sat. dec. 30 1899. will not let me pick another day.registry ok. currently experiencing a shutdown problem. no errors ,ran scan disc and defrag yesterday,then would not shut down through start menu-shutdown.figured i would try system restore to see if that would cure shutdown prob.but now stuck in 1899. system specs-950 athlon 512mb. memory 40 gig hd. windows me. nvidia vanta tnt2. thanks to all who help,-jcd

also when i click on the help icon in system restore,the microsoft help and support page comes up,but is blank except for the logo at the top.

go to windows update. there is a critical download for that issue.

jcd are you running Mcafee uninstaller?if so check their site for a fix.otherwise try microsoft article Q27546.good luck.

Windows Update has a fix for that bug. Been there, done that. Wondered if maybe Data's head had something to do with it (if you are not a Star Trek fan, you may not get that one) :)

... or... take a look in whatever registry cleaner you are using for an option to replace the entries it has removed... Use this option to undo the damage and be careful with it next time.
