Comment: I disabled system restore and when I enabled it, it won't stay enabled. Also I ran adaware in safe mode and upon restarting I lost the screen color. Hope somebody can help me with these problems. Thanking you in advance.

Reply: (edit)Is *StateMgr checked on the startup tab of msconfig (start>click run>type "msconfig" exactly and without the quotes>startup). If not put a checkmark there and reboot, try enabling system restore. Can't help with AdAware, unless you can you restore the backup it creates?

Reply: (edit)You could do a scanreg /restore from the run command, start>click run>type "scanreg /restore", exactly and without the quotes>hit enter, choose a date before you ran AdAware and hit enter, "started" means the registry backup is okay. End tasks of everything except explorer and systray before using the command (note the space between scanreg and the slash). Forgot to say above to hit enter after typing msconfig.

Reply: (edit)Thank you for your response. I will have to wait until tomorrow to try it out. Still would like to find out why the screen stays in the safe mode color when not in safe mode. Thank You

Reply: (edit)Performing certain tasks in safe mode can mess graphics drivers up, I've read. I think I have even seen a message pop up once when I was about to restore a registry from safe mode saying that performing a DOS function from safe mode can mess up graphics drivers. Try right clicking an area of the desktop and choose properties>setttings tab>move the resolution slider up a notch, click apply and okay, if successful you'll probably be prompted to reboot>repeat the process for color depth until things look normal. If this doesn't work you probably need to update or reinstall your graphics drivers.
