Keep getting low system resources, currently with only the system tray processes running i have around 40-45% free. this is interfering with running photo editing applications, and other apps. its a new issue for me in the last few weeks. reformatted due to something hogging space on the hard drive about 3 mths ago. ran scandisk and defrag in safe mode. ran norton antivirus 2005 updated version last night. have spybot running. just ran hijackthis, can include the log if necessary. i removed a virus called szchost last night, and seemed to improve the system resources briefly to around 70%, but as soon as i updated norton they shrank back down.
norton discovered a file JMQLCISP.exe trying to send out on the internet. its in the windows/system directory, new as of sept. 10 2004. along with a .dll file. also found a cd_clint.dll file trying to contact out. i can't rename the jmqlcisp file cuz it seems to be in use by windows - but it didn't load with windows when i reformatted mths ago, so i think it must be a virus. can't find anything on it when i search google tho.
any ideas?

If you have a HijackThis log, look through for any mention of the .exe file & get HJT to delete it. You could also put your HJT log through the analyser at:

Run Adaware as well as SpyBot (make sure they're both updated beforehand) - they each seem to pick up slightly different 'baddies'
"I know that I'm mad - I've always been mad..."

thanks. i got rid of that virus, and found another by using norton. did a ton of stuff suggested by a windows ME fix site by jgulley. reinstalled windows in case the virus removal damaged files. still running low resources. currently, with norton security, pegasus mail and netscape open i'm at 49%. not sure what to do next.
also, norton security keeps crashing.
i wonder if i'm looking at a reformat yet again.
