I have a 1.2processer and a ecs K7s5a motherboard. with about 384MB of ram with about a 10gig harddrive. I really don't have much running on my computer but when I boot up and and I check my system resources it's about 86% is that too low? It's even got down to 80%. I was just wondering cause I have been getting errors when I'm playing a on-line game errors about unexpected handling which I was told those are memory errors. Any suggestions on what that could be and how to fix it? I don't have anything that starts up at boot up that would make the resource low so I was wondering if it is a memory leak

Try running msconfig from start-run - click on the startup tab and uncheck everythig but scanregistry & systemtray. Re-boot and see what it's at. You can go back and check what you really need at any time.

I wouldn't say 80% was low with applications open. As I type this my resources are at 71% - actually that's pretty high for me whilst I'm on the net. I have OE, IE, Firewall & AV running. My resources have been as low as mid 50's with this lot open plusMorpheus & Java games etc. I would look elsewhere for your prob with online gaming.

80%, I'd say not to worry about it. Dropping 60% or 50%, then you could have a problem. Do these errors happen with normal games (on CD)? If not you may have to contact your ISP.

It's around 80% after I boot up with nothing open. Not just when a game is running. I know with the computers at work, when I first boot up it's in the 90's then after I open a few programs here and there, it goes down. On mine at home it's at in the 80's after I start up. Thank for all the responses!=)

System resources is a very arbitary estimation figure. 80% is fine. Run msconfig and uncheck items in the startup menu certainly help. I won't worry too much unless your computer down too often.
