Hi!
I am using WINME with 128MB of RAM
Now my System Resources is 23% and i can't run two or more programs at the same time
and i get this message:-
There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again.

I would like to now how to free some memory?

thank you

ctrl-alt-del one time and kill anything you don't need running except sys tray and explorer. Then, from the Start button on the task bar, type msconfig and click startup tab and uncheck things that are familiar that you don't need runing. Click apply. Reboot and it will give you a dialoge box saying you are using selective startup. Check 'don't show this message again'. Check sys resources. It should be much better. Another 128MB of ram wouldn't hurt. ME is a ram hog but runs good when optimized.
Hope this helps ya out.

maybe it might interest you as a reference that i have (also with 128MB) systray, explorer, internet explorer and zonealarm running and still 82% system resources available. Don't know whether that's good or bad, just might be interesting for you.

find c:\windows\system.ini
put this line
under 386[enh]
conservativeswapfileusage=1

under [vcache]
Minfilecache=
Maxfilecache=
put whatever number you choose i use 6024 thats 6MB for disk cache
check msconfig and remove all startup programmes u dont need
if u are using a fixed swap file, increase the size u'll probably stop getting those memory errors

thirdly if u have I.E 5.X u can copy and paste this:
Freemem =20000000 and save it as anything but with extension.vbs this would free 20MB of memory u can substitute with any amount you choose( important .vbs must be the xtension) so anytime u are running low on memory doubleclick it and watch it do its job

low resource doesn't neccessary means is low memory. is the system program eats up the source..not much you can fix it, unless disabled some of the startup program. 128ram is ok.

This is a problem that can attract precision advice if only you first post which programs are running shown in task manager (alt+ctrl+del) at startup or at any time you have trouble with. You do not do any editing of system.ini before ascertaining why the system resource is at that level.

Suggest you post the list to start with?
