I have a Dell with an internal cd-rw (HL-DT-ST-CD-RW-GCE8160V) I formatted my hard drive and installed ME (I was previously running 98) My device manager recognizes the drive, however when I triy to use one of my burn programs that have always worked in the past it tells me "NO CD WRITER INSTALLED" Does anyone have any ideas?? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. Try using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0 Deluxe upgraded to 4.05. Or Easy CD Creator 5.0
That should detect the CD RW without a problem.

I think I just read on the Adaptec Easy CD Creator site that ME will only run version 4.0.

Hello Melissa the correct version of cd creator to use with ME is v4.05 or better.Do not uninstall your current software you will need to simply download the more recent from Roxio's website. The download is simply an update and will not install unless it detects the original software package.I am running this version 4.05 on a Dell system with no problems. Try easycd only avoid directcd if possible.Good luck.
