system not coming up on reboot

Everything seems to work okay. Just built the system using K7T Turbo2 motherboard, AMD Duron 1.3 processor, 256 meg of ram with maxtor 40gig harddrive. Installed Ausu v9180 Magic video and loaded with NVIDA GeForce4 MX 440-8x driver. OS is Windows ME and will be upgrading it to Windows XP in near future. Whenever I do a ctl-alt-del reboot the system blanks out the monitor the curso prompt shows up on upper left corner and then flickers out to a blank monitor with nothing happening. The processor fan is still running. It looks like it went into suspend mode but have tried to turn off all suspension features. Always have to power-off and then on to get it to run. Shut down works okay. Any ideas will be appreciated and tried out.

Your system is not shutting down properly. Somewhere along the line there is a program that is keeping the system open. Go from start to run. From there in the "open" box type in msconfig
Now go to the startup box. See what has check marks and what does not. Only essential programs need to be checked. They usually will not create your problem, but there may be a program listed with a check mark that is causing your complete shutdown problem. Good Luck, Al
