Hi all, I have an HP with 1ghz cpu, Nvida 16 meg video, sb card, 128 meg ram. 200mhz fs bus.. Anyway as I am playing or working or, doing just about anything, the system will pause, everything stops, mouse, video, typing ect. this will last from 1 to 10 seconds, then back to normal. no pattern, just happens... any ideas???? please email me at harvey2000@cfl.rr.com Thanks in advance

What is running if you do a ctrl-alt-del? Do you have full time anti-virus protection going? Why on earth do you have a 1 ghz system with a piece of cr*p video card?

I had a similar problem, but i narrowed it down to my network card. There was a problem with the devise drivers and I just had to either update them (or put the origional ones back on) sometimes the older ones work better then the new ones. What it did to my system was lock everything up ie. internet, desktop, programs, everything. Hope this may be of some help

I had similar problem at work on windows 2000 machine. The wirus scann that was performed every time the machine was turned on for the first time every day took between 50% and 90% of resources for about an hour or two. I had to stop the virus scan by pressing cntrl alt del every day after i turned on the machine.
Now i have better computer at work but still shutting down all the virus programs. Dont use any virus programs, BACK UP everything you need OFTEN. If you get virus reformat. It is less pine than virus protection :)
sorry for the spelling.
Regards Miro
