hi,I cant run sfc from start/run. Does anyone body know why?
I only have the .dll of sfc thats probably why isnt it?
I downloaded a program called system file checker but i dont know how good it isanybody got it?

ME doesn't have SFC as far as I know...Start/Run/ scandisk

OK,did you try scandisk...is that what you were looking for?

If so,you should both that and defrag in safe mode.

no i tried to open system file checker coz thats what btopenworld technician told me to do, then to check the .dll file that is giving me problems

I don't have SFC on this box,so I can't help you there.Maybe because it's an OEM system.But I didn't think ME had SFC,but I could very easily be wrong...AGAIN!!!

No sfc here.
My ME is O.E.M also tho.
I do Norton defrag and scandisc. Is there any advantage to doing in safe mode there?

SFC is part of *StateMgr, and it always runs and can never be disabled.

Unless you uncheck *StateMgr in msconfig.

Look at c:\windows\system\sfp\sfplog.txt to see what it's been doing.

And do me a favor-- please tell me how big that file is on your system(s). Thanks!

They put the SFC tool back in Windows XP, so maybe Microsoft did listen to the complaints about it missing in Me.
