my computer has a problem. when im using internet exlorer it stops working a lot and when i press ctrl+alt+del to fix it a box pops up that says "The system is dangerously low in resources. Would you like to terminate the following application:" after the colon it has the name of an application and the ones that cause problems and show up the most are "Acrord32, Rundll32, and the one that causes the most problems and wont terminate is "Systray." is this a serious problem and what should i do to solve it. i use Windows ME.

Are you using Word when this happens?
Have you search the ms knowlegde base?
MS" IF IT AINT BROKE - LEAVE IT ALONE "

Systray is not causing the problem, Accord32 could be part of the problem. It is one of the Adobe reader modules. It should not be in memory unless you are using IE to look at PDF files at that time. But of course there is a bug in the Adobe memory exit code that leaves Accord32 (sometimes multiple copies) running in memory and slowing down the system when you use IE to view a PDF file.
If you view a PDF file from within IE, when done and you have switched to a different web page, switch and start Adobe reader and then exit it. This will allow the Accord32 module to exit normally. Any other method of killing the Accord32 module will leave the system resources it was using tied up and after a few times killin it, your free system resources will drop to low levels and there is nothing you can do but reboot the system.
There is a problem with running Acrobat reader version 6.0 on some Windows ME systems. First try going to the Adobe web site and installing the latest version and then upgrade with the latest update, and see if this fixes your problems after rebooting. If not, and you have Adobe Acrobat version 6, then you may have to remove it and try to locate a copy of version 5.1 that works better with Windows ME, but still has the problem of not of not exiting if called from within IE.
The other referance to MS Office and Word is because they take up a lot of the critical System Resources and should be removed from your MSCONFIG startup list.
But you have some program that loads and is not freeing up system resources. You need to find which one and get rid of it or a get a newer version of it. It is NOT a problem with Windows ME or any of its modules like RunDll32. It is a problem with some application(s) that you have allowed to be installed on your system.
Have you checked for ADware, Spyware, Worms, Trojans and Virus on your system?

i have checked for thoughs things using the antispyware program "SpySweeper." However spyware continues to enter my computer and i have no idea how. I cant seen to get rid of some of the adware even right after a scan. I have already run 3 scans since installing the program. The spyware keeps on trying to direct my homepage to www.zestyfind.com. Could the fact that my computer is infected by spyware be the reason my computer is having so many problems. o yeah, one more thing i would like to ask. when i start up or reboot my computer, when it gets to the regular screen, everthing freezes except my mouse. to solve that i always have to press crtl+alt+del and it comes up with the regular box and not the system dangerouly low on... box and it says that explorer is not responding. when i end task the computer unfreezes.

I've been running WinMe for over 3-1/2 years without any problems and love it, but it does take a little tweaking.
First, goto AnalogX.com and get a little program called MaxMem and install it. MaxMem helps manage RAM to keep from bogging down.
Second, goto Start | Settings | Control Panel | System and open it. Click on the Performance tab. Click on Virtual Memory. Select 'Let me specify my own virtual memory settings'. Windows will pop up a box cautioning you about this, click OK. In the Minimum box enter 64, in the Maximum box enter 640 to 896. Click OK. (There are some that advise to set the Max and Min to the same value (i.e. that being 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 times the amount of RAM on your computer), however in a number of trials I have found that my WinMe works best with the settings I suggested. My computer would bog down if the settings for Max and Min were the same.
It would be highly recommended that you install a program to 'control' what programs start-up on your computer. Autoruns from Sysinternals www.sysinternals.com. This will help you to control what loads up on your computer when you boot up. Alternatively, goto Start | Run and type msconfig, click on the Startup tab and select/de-select what you want to start up. Only two are absolutely necessary: explorer, and taskbar. Here is a link to where you can resolve what programs that you want to start up on your computer. http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
And, of course, it goes without saying, to be sure to have a firewall, anti-virus, Ad-aware, Spybot S&D just for safe measure.
Also recommended: jv16 powertools v.1.3.0.195 which can be found at http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=jv16 Build 196 is shareware. jv16 is a very good utility tool necessary to keep your system running smoothly.
One last note. When doing a Shut Down or Restart, wait 7-12 seconds before clicking OK. Listen/watch for HD activity to cease, then click OK.
Hope this helps.
