Hello! There are over 40 items listed in my startup. The only ones I have checked are *StateMgr and the Norton AV ones. (A couple of them check themselves back on at startup.) But here's my question: How do I remove items from the startup list? There is one check box with nothing listed beside it; an item called "ctfmon.exe" has recently started appearing twice on the list (it's something called Cicero loader); "devldr16.exe" is on there twice also. Having just said that, I realized that those two items (ctfmon & devldr16) are the ones that seem to check themselves back on after a reboot.
(I have been trying to run a clean boot hoping to solve some ongoing issues with Symantec -- they are working with me on this via e-mail because NAV 2004 has been messed up ever since I got it, despite disk reformatting, uninstalling and reinstalling NAV several times.)
I'm hoping to get this startup group straightened out now, too, if that's possible.
Thanks for any help.

Be careful what you do and what you remove but navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and Run-, RunOnce, RunOnceEx, RunServices, RunServices-, RunServicesOnce etc etc, you get the gist.
I strongly recommend you do some research before you start deleting stuff, especialy if you don't know what they are and who they belong to.
Plenty of sites out there with startup lists that you can check. Pacs-portal is one.

Ohh. You have to open the registry editor first :)
That would be regedit, at Start >> Run >> regedit >> Ok.
:) :)

Sysinfo -- Startup Applications List
AnswersThatWork. -- Click the Task List button.
Reason I posted those ?
Reminding you to be careful ;)

Point 9 of the homepage link on this response has the address for Pac's which is the best guide for this. You may be interested in the other points in the post too.

Go to this website and download cleantray. I use it all the time and have never had trouble with it. It is freeware.
