my computer doesnt let me do a system restore(i used to be able to do that) it wont let me do it even if i first creat a restoration point. It tells me that it can not restore computer and that no changes has been made. Nor do i have a tab in the system tools menu for system configuration utility.Does anyone know why it has dissapeared? (all software updates are up to date)thankful for any ifo.

Did you try opening the System Configuration Utility from the start/run ? Go to the Start button on your desk top , go to run and then type msconfig . This should open up the utility from their. Also , reguarding System Restore , right click on My Computer on your desk top , click on properties , the click on the performance tab , at the bottom it has file system, click on that, then click on the trobleshooting tab , the very last box is to disable system restore , make sure it does not have a check mark in it .Good Luck,Nick

thanks, the box for system restore is now unchecked.yes,i tried typing in that in the run app,but it can not find the file.still can not find system configuration utility tab.

hello
not sur if this is what you want
but goto start,run,type msconfig.
look in start up tab make sure the enteries
for system restore are unchecked

you can do a restore from dos. Use your win me start up disk and choose boot without cd-rom support. When you get to the dos area type c:\scanreg/restore

tomm,
Go to your WIN_17.CAB. Do a search for it. Right click it then click Explore. This will bring up a window showing the contents of the .CAB. Right click on msconfig.exe in the window that has appeared. Then click Extract. Then you will have a choice where to put it. Put it in
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
Close the window that opened."Nor do i have a tab in the system tools menu for system configuration utility"
By this statement do you mean in Start>>Programs>>System Tools. If so, go to where you extracted the file(msconfig.exe) to and right click it and choose Send To>>Desktop (creat shortcut). Then right click the shortcut you made on the desktop and choose Rename. Type; System Configuration Utility, press Enter. Now go to Start>>Programs>>System Tools. Right click where it says System Tools and click Open. Drag the shortcut into this window that opened. Close the window and now you should have it back.
I hope you understand my instructions. If not, ask for further assistance. I also hope I understood what your computer proplem was.
I'll Try
