i have downloaded system restore remover pro several times. each time i install it i get "unexpected error". I really want to use this program-- any ideas???

DON'T!I used it and I had to do a clean install afterwards.System Restore does very little in the background so I just disabled it in System Properties.

i've used it before on another computer. i also want to remove movie maker and media player. to do so, i need this program. i appreciate your opinion, but sys restore is just taking up space. you wouldn't leave a big junk file sitting around in your documents folder would you?

Granted Sys Restore takes up some space and resources, but it could just save your bacon.
If you don't mind the occaisonal format C and your programs are well backed up, no big deal. However if you are uncomfortable with a total format of your system with the loss of all programs and data you might be advised to hang onto it for a while.
just a thought
shep

I DON'T WANT IT!!!
OK?
I know what it is-- I know what it does. I have no use for it NONE!
could someone please answer my question?
thankyou. If you just want to tell me to keep it, save your time. I'm not buying it.
My bacon did just fine without it for over a year on my last computer. On a side note, I also have used filesharing programs since napster, and guess what??? NO FREAKING PROBLEMS. alot of people give the most doomsday opinions on that too.
Oh yeah, ME is rock steady for me. has been for a long time. plays games fine too.
I would appreciate knowledgeable help on my original question.
thankyou.

hi..i used the program and it works i had updated my ME os with about 10 patches though not encountered any unexpected errors..the program saved me about 50 megs of space. It will permanently remove the windows movie maker and restore folder does not show up after a reboot. But Restore is easily recovered by enabling the option from performance tab and then in system information. Still a good program to save disk space. It's at www.definition-software.com

thanks zack-- i had been getting it from definition each time, but it just wouldn't work. i tried again a couple of hours ago, downloaded it AGAIN, and it worked! wish i knew why-- same site, fresh download each time, same install procedure-- wierd. My clean install of winME (two days ago) including all updates (except system restore update, and IE6), ramidle, regcleaner, IE 5.5 sp2, and AVG antivirus comes to 0.98GB!!! I love it.

Nice one. It only takes a spike in the D/L to damage the file. My swapfile is 1.0GB!
Did you know you can get ME to run at 16Mb. Way to go.
If you take that as a %age of the full program just think how many programmers could join the Army and do something useful!
I use RegCleaner RegSeeker and Jv16 PTs any ideas on making ME run better are very welcome. (AlwaysUnloadDll, etc.)
Give RAMpage 1.6 a go as I think it is better than RAMidle which caused me quite some problem. CPU went up to 100% and stayed there. Quick un-install saved the day.

RegCleaner is not perfect...
I have noticed a lot of people are using RegCleaner(I assume this is the Microsoft version). RegCleaner will delete keys that are necessary to the smooth operation of your windows system..I developed DirectX errors after running RegCleaner...For further information follow this link...http://www.woram.com/LETTER/WINMAG/2001-03.HTM System Mechanic has a good registry tool and so does Registry Healer...I have never found them to be harmful to my system...

BigTcronic-- I think you may be thinking of RegEdit (microsoft). Reg Cleaner is freeware from finnish programmers. Look at www.jv16.org-- I've been using it for two years now with no problems. It automatically creates a backup file for the things you remove. If everything runs ok for a couple of days, I delete the backup file as well.
Also, RamIdle has caused me no problems-- been using it a long time too. Different systems find different programs to be more agreeable than others.

or is it RegClean your thinking of? also microsoft. I have regcleanER. In any event, I don't use the auto clean options on any reg program. as you uninstall, manually delete reg keys, file associations, etc. just like the guy in the post you linked to says-- all you have to do is try it. if something works funky, replace it from the backup file. no biggie.
