OS: Win ME 4.90.3000
CPU/Ram: Intel P4 1500 Mhz / 128 M
Comment:

Error Message during startup Sysreg has caused an error in SYSREG.exe sysreg will now close.

I think whats causing the problem is: I installed a few registry editors Xtech or something I don't even know what there names were, I think I installed a few 3 at most... everone I installed I uninstalled and deleted the folder and that or the programs themselves screwed up the registry. Also that day I was uninstalling junk that I had on my computer that I didn't need (*without rebooting between uninstallations and installations*). I've rebooted several times sence then so I don't think I can do a registry restore. (*My Computer Seams stable should I do nothing?*) Does anyone know what I can do besides doing a complete reinstall of Windows ME? Is there a registry cleaner (*That Works Without Flaws*)? What are my options?

Some Help Would Be Much Appriciated!!!

this is a cut and paste..
Rather than being part of the Win Me operating system sysreg.exe is a trojan
and something you almost certainly don't want to have running on your system.
When did you last run a check for viruses and the like?

Rather than reinstalling you could choose to revert back to the last known good configuration. presumably before the reg editor installs.

I thought of reverting back late last night. I ran system restore and I ran for 30 minutes with little or no progress. After 45 minutes allapsed It rebooted my computer and came up with system restore's message saying your computer couldn't be restored and no changes will occur.

Today I scanned the file thats faulting and it does not contain infected files.

Is there anyting more I can do besided a Reinstall?

I don't know what AV you are using BUT, Sysreg IS a trojan (as pointed out above)

http://www.ntsecurity.net/Panda/Index.cfm?FuseAction=Virus&VirusID=27

Try this online scan

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

And you can also do a restart to safe mode and delete the SYSREG file from there.

Since it is a trojan, you could (and still do) have had an outsider, with full access to your PC. After getting rid of it, change all passwords, everywhere.

Also, recommend that you run a firewall.
www.zonealarm.com

If a trojan sneaks by your AV, the firewall will warn you as it tries to phone home.

Generally i don't use registry cleaners since i don't like to give that much control to an automated routine. i use regedit which is part of the OS.

If you're still getting the error, run regedit and do a find "Sysreg". delete all references to it.
